The Museum is now open regular hours. We encourage social distancing, recommend wearing a mask, and will have hand sanitizer available. No groups larger than 10 please.

The Genealogical Research Library is now open regular hours. Because of the small space, we are only allowing 2 patrons inside at a time. Call 770-749-0073 during operating hours if you would like to reserve a time slot (not required, but encouraged).

In July of 2018, the Polk County Historical Society’s Museum moved from the Hawkes Children’s Library building on S. College Street to a larger and more accessible building at 117 West Avenue. The Hawkes building is now an event space (top floor/garden) and a Genealogical Research Library (basement). Our new building includes a spacious showroom with three themed side rooms, such as our wonderful Sterling Holloway exhibit. Both locations are open Thursdays – Saturdays.
