1832 Gold Lottery

The land that is now Polk County was included on the 1832 Gold Lottery, which was the 7th of 8 land lotteries of Georgia. You can find the general details of the lottery on the Georgia Archives website. It’s interesting to note that one of the exclusions to eligibility was if a person was “a member of or concerned with ‘a horde of Thieves known as the Pony Club.’”
